Biography

Mishal read chemistry at the University of Surrey obtaining a first class honours with distinction. He was awarded a PhD in Computational Chemistry from the University of Southampton investigating protein conformational change using coarse-grain models. After brief sabbatical into Investment banking, Mishal returned to academia joining the Computational Biology and Chemogenomics group at the Institute of Cancer Research. His research at the ICR focused on structure based drugability predications to aid target selection for drug discovery, along with developing expertise in structure based protein family modelling in respect to structure activity relationships.

Currently, Mishal works at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, dedicating his efforts into the development of a large oncology medical image database. He also has a keen focus on quantitative image analysis linked with clinical and genomic data to produce prognostic biomarkers for patient risk assessment. Mishal has a passion for predicative analytics in particular using stochastic simulations and is a keen advocate for open data sharing within scientific research.
